In most of the kitchen cupboards and pantry's in in the United Kingdom you would find Balsamic Vinegar in one form or the other. A surprising fact is that many people do not know that Balsamic vinegar can be used on so many foods and deserts. We at Homewood delights would like to show our readers the different uses of balsamic Vinegar to give your food and drink the Balsamic factor.

Other than tasting divine, Balsamic Vinegar is also good for your health, it contains antioxidants which helps to manage your cholesterol levels, supports a healthy gut and has probiotics which helps with a healthy digestive system.

It should be remembered that well aged balsamic vinegar should be used after the cooking is finished and in relatively mild dishes, nothing too spicy or heavily seasoned.

Cheeses

Balsamic Vinegar pairs well with aged cheeses such as aged Gouda, Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino Romano, The cheese can be dipped in a small bowl of Balsamic, or the Vinegar can be lightly drizzled over the cheese.

Balsamic Vinegar's sweet flavour pairs specially well with ingredients like Strawberries, Blue berries, Peaches, figs, Cherries, Raspberries and even........Chocolate.

Salads

Any Mix green salad is not complete without Olive oil and Balsamic Vinagarette, the combinations are endless to discuss here.

Many chefs use Balsamic vinegar at the end of the cooking of soups and sauces to bring the flavours together.

Marinating Meat

Balsamic is used to marinate red meat and in Japan its used to marinate Tofu and Portobello mushrooms...this is a must try.

Soda and Cocktails

Balsamic vinegar can be diluted in Soda for an adult fizzy drink, Many bars serve Balsamic Strawberry soda and it goes well when mixed with Bourbon and Rye. We at homewood delights love a little balsamic vinegar in Summer cocktails which include Melon, strawberries Mangoes and grapefruit.
