Coronation of Charles 111

On The 8th of May King Charles 111 will be officially coronated as the King Of Great Britain. A coronation is both the symbolic religious ceremony during which a sovereign is crowned and the physical act of placing a crown on a monarch's head. It formalises the monarch's role as the head of the Church of England and marks the transfer of their title and powers.

For many of us it is a bitter sweet moment as we realise that our beloved Queen Elizabeth the 2nd is truly not with us and it is officially the beginning of a new era. But as the English say.... Onwards and Upwards.

We are actively buying party buntings, hampers, official coronation mugs and memorabilia. Many of us are having watch parties and street parties and are looking for ideas of how to celebrate that bank holiday weekend. We at Homewood delights would like to recommend three cocktail ideas inspired by the coronation of King Charles:

Royal Fizz: This cocktail is a modern take on a classic gin fizz. Combine 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of fresh lemon juice, and 3/4 oz of simple syrup in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a tall glass filled with ice. Top with chilled champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.

Crown Jewel: This cocktail is a luxurious blend of whiskey and champagne, with a hint of sweet and sour. Combine 1 1/2 oz of whiskey, 1/2 oz of triple sec, and 1/2 oz of fresh lemon juice in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled champagne flute. Top with chilled champagne and garnish with a twist of orange peel.

Coronation Cooler: This cocktail is a refreshing mix of rum, citrus, and ginger. Muddle a slice of fresh ginger and a few mint leaves in the bottom of a shaker. Add 2 oz of rum, 1 oz of fresh lime juice, and 1/2 oz of simple syrup. Fill with ice and shake well. Strain into a tall glass filled with ice, and top with ginger beer. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a lime wedge
