Drinks for your picnic Hamper

A picnic in the park for an average English family gets as British as scones and jam or as Shephards pie, it just has to be done. We are having an unusually hot summer in the United Kingdom this year and we feel that it is the perfect opportunity to gather your friends and loved ones and find a perfect spot in your local park for a get together.......El Fresco eating and drinking is the theme of Summer 2022.

We at home wood delights would like to put in our two pence on the subject of which alcohol is perfect for a warm day out in the park. Here are our selection of the perfect accompaniment for your picnic basket.

Gin & Tonic

Gin & Tonic is the perfect summer drink in our opinion, not only it hydrates and refreshes you but drinking gin in moderation is actually good for your health, the antioxidants in juniper berries are beneficial for your skin and body.

Pimms & Lemonade

Pimms and Lemonade = Englishness in a glass. That's it.

Rose wine

Rose is a beautiful light wine which is perfect for picnics, its gentle flavours work very well with cold salads, fruits and sandwiches. Rose wines are generally meant for summer and is a staple for any gathering outside.

Sangria

Sangria has gained popularity across the past few years and now is the go to alcoholic beverage of many a picnic, the combination of cava / wine, liquers, fruit is hard to resist.

Aperol Spritz

Aperol is best enjoyed in its signature cocktail, the Aperol Spritz, a traditional Italian aperitif. It is bright orange in color, light on alcohol (11%), refreshing and has a bittersweet taste deriving from a blend of high-quality herbs and roots.

Sparkling white wine can be an excellent picnic wine and catalyst for socializing with colleagues and families. On the one hand, having sparkling wine can uplift the whole mood of the gathering. On the other, it doesn’t cause all the ill effects of different alcoholic drinks, thus not spoiling the spirit of the occasion.
