Elizabeth the II's favourite Tipple

Queen Elizabeth the 2nd is no more, and it’s been a surreal, grieving and a hard week for all of us in the United Kingdom, The Queen was part of our lives for so long that it seems with her passing, a void has been left in the collective soul of the nation....May she rest in peace.

The nation has been mourning, since her passing away on September the 8th and you would not be surprised by reading that the Queen's favourite drink has been sold out across all major supermarkets as people want to remember their queen by having her favourite cocktail. It was no secret that the queens favourite Tipple was a simple two ingredient cocktail which was mixing Gin and Dubonnet.

Dubonnet is a French aperitif invented by the French chemist Joseph Dubonnet in 1846 for medicinal purposes, but soon it gained popularity as an alcoholic drink because of its pleasant taste. Dubonnet is in fact like a fortified wine which includes berries, herbs, spices and quinine.

Dubonnet can be used as a mixer with many other spirits but in ode to our Queen we at Homewood delights would recommend that you do it like the Queen did:

80ml of Dubonnet

40 ml London Dry Gin

2 Ice Cubes

Add some orange Zest and garnish with a slice of lemon
