Whisky is the world's favourite spirit and is enjoying booming sales, yet too often it is shrouded in mystery, myth and complex-sounding terminology. With the pandemic people are looking for the favourite brands online, and also seeing there is so many varieties of Whisky out there.

Whisky has always had something of the outlaw about it. As with all the great legends, facts have not always been allowed to get in the way of the story …

Conventionally most of us refer to Whisky as Scotch, but various variants have different names such Bourbon, distilled from a mash made primarily of corn, and mainly manufactured in Kentucky USA; but in recent times distilleries producing Bourbon are coming up around America. Note, whisky produced outside America cannot be called Bourbon according to Federal Standards regulations. Canadian distilled Whisky is known as Whisky but Irish and American are known as Whiskey.
